Adriana Cerezo Iglesias is a young Spanish athlete born in Madrid in 2003, who has become one of the great promises of taekwondo worldwide. Her sports career has been marked by great successes, being the silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games one of her most outstanding moments.
From a very young age, Adriana showed a great interest in sports, coming to practice various disciplines before finding her passion in martial arts. However, it was at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games that Adriana achieved her sporting glory by becoming the first Olympic medalist for Spain in that edition. Her path to the medal was not an easy one, but her determination and her ability on her mat led her to overcome top-level opponents such as Serbia's Tijana Bogdanović, China's Wu Jingyu and Turkey's Rukiye Yıldırım. . In the final, Adriana faced the Thai Panipak Wongpattanakit, in an exciting match that ended with a result of 11-10 in favor of the Thai, awarding Adriana the silver medal.
In addition to her great success at the Olympic Games, Adriana has also achieved important victories in other international tournaments, such as the European Taekwondo Championship, where she has obtained a gold medal in 2021 and a bronze medal in 2022.
